My First Field Trip

Today was Evelyn's first field trip. She had been to Eugster's Farm Market many times before but this time was different. Arriving on the bus with her 75 or so classmates she was pleased to see Dad ready to chaperon and thought it was just hilarious that a little boy named Ben was in our group. From left to right in the lower photo: Katherine, Ben, Jack W. and Evie.

Evelyn's First Day of School

Day one at Kindergarten is certain worth a photo op or two. The first day of school is also the first real bus ride, the first day of the dreaded "Quiet Rest" time and the first opportunity for hot lunch, an opportunity that as I write on October 15th, she has yet to take advantage of. In that way, she takes after her mother.

Evelyn weighs in on the election

Living on the near east side of the peoples republic of Madison comes with certain responsibilities. Voting Democrat is one of them. All on her own, with no urging from either parent, especially not me, she early on chose her favorite. The brown guy, whom she later learned was Barack Obama has taken his hold on our home. At a "Stencil Party" in the neighborhood she was able to find a way to express and then display her political leanings. I thought since the home is still in transition I could hang her banner from the part of the house that has yet to be sided.
